Kenworth 76-in. mid-roof sleeper available for order

June 29, 2015

Kenworth Truck Co. said its new 76-in. mid-roof sleeper is now available for order. The new sleeper option for the T680 and T880 is optimized for liquid bulk tankers, flatbed haulers and other truck operators that prefer a lighter weight, more aerodynamic truck combined with all the comforts of a high-roof sleeper for driver retention and recruitment.

Compared to Kenworth’s 76-in. high-roof sleeper, the new sleeper offers a 100-lb. weight savings for additional payload capacity, and less aerodynamic drag with up to a 5% fuel economy savings for tanker and flatbed applications, depending on load conditions.

The sleeper offers 6-1/2 ft. of headroom that gives even taller drivers ease of movement, a roomy work environment, liftable lower bunk, and side storage towers with ample space for drivers to hang and store their clothes. An optional upper bunk for team drivers or a back wall sleeper storage unit can be selected.

The Kenworth Idle Management System option provides a factory-installed, battery-based auxiliary power unit (APU) system. Other options include a premium sound system, and a mount for the customer to install a flat screen TV for even more driver enjoyment.

“The T680 and T880 build upon Kenworth's heritage of quality, innovation, and outstanding performance,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth marketing director. “Yet, Kenworth does not stop there. We keep working to bring to market additional choices that support customer efforts toward greater efficiency, profit and driver retention and recruitment success through quality, reliability, and enhanced comfort.”

With the new sleeper addition, the Kenworth T680 family’s configurations include the 76-in. mid- and high-roof sleepers, 52-in. regional sleeper, and day cab.

The Kenworth T880 family now includes day cab, 52-in. regional sleeper and 76-in. mid-roof sleeper configurations.

Both the T680 and T880 are standard with the 12.9L Paccar MX-13 engine.
