Following its acquisition of Evans Trucking earlier this year, Celadon Trucking Services announced that it has ordered new tractors for the flatbed fleet as well as 100 new 53 ft. aluminum flatbed trailers.
Among the tractors on order are Kenworth W900, Peterbilt 579 and International LoneStar models.
“We are looking to grow our base of owner operators for our flatbed business”, commented Nate Roberts, vice president of specialized services at Celadon. “This trio of quality tractor options, both new and used, coupled with an attractive leasing program and great pay packages, offer an outstanding opportunity for those considering a career as a lease purchase driver.”
After 13 years away, Celadon reentered the flatbed business with the purchase of Bulter, IN-based Evans. The Evans terminal in Butler, IN has been added to the Celadon network and the four Evans warehouses in Angola, Butler, Garrett and Terre Haute, IN, are now part of Celadon Logistics operations.
“Our return to the flatbed segment signals our intent to become a truly full service carrier for our customers,” said Paul Will, Celadon CEO and president. “Whether their needs require a temperature-controlled environment, delivery on an expedited basis or a load that requires a flatbed trailer, Celadon can now better handle our customers’ shipping and transportation requirements.”
