Continental debuts off-road tire for work trucks

March 5, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS. Continental Tire the Americas is showing a new off-road tire for work trucks this week at the NTEA Work Truck Show. The Conti TerraPlus HD3 drive tire, available in a 19.5 in. size, features a new, aggressive tread pattern designed for Class 4 and 5 working trucks.

According to the company, the tire’s high traction, deep lug tread pattern and chip and chunk resistant tread compound is ideal for heavy-duty pickups, landscaping trucks, utility trucks and other vocational trucks that frequently work in off-road conditions.

“Our new Conti TerraPlus HD3 was designed specifically for working trucks and heavy pickups which, due to the terrain, demand improved traction and a more aggressive lug pattern than the typical 19.5 in. tire provides. We’re bringing this new tire to our customers at the NTEA Work Truck Show today to let them take an advance look at this product before its official launch in May of this year,” said Wes Garber, director of original equipment sales for Continental’s Commercial Vehicle Tire group.

The TerraPlus HD3 has 19/32nds tread depth and a specialized pattern with open shoulder design to increase traction. An off-road belt package makes the tire more suited to the severe service, off road environments and more resistant to damage such as stone penetration.

“We anticipate that pickup truck enthusiasts, as well as people who depend on their vocational trucks to operate every day in mud, snow, gravel and off-road conditions, will be very interested in the new TerraPlus HD3,” Garber said.
