Freightliner Cascadia trucks equipped with a Detroit DD16 engine can now be ordered with the Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission. The pairing of the DT12 with the DD16 for heavier weight applications provides DT12 coverage across all horsepower and torque ratings available from Detroit engines.
All DT12 transmissions mated to DD16 engines will also have a dual plate clutch to channel the big-bore power of the workhorse engine. The DT12 ratings will only be available with overdrive gearing, however features such as creep mode for low-speed maneuverability, eCoast for efficient cruising, and skip shift for smooth acceleration are included.
The DD16 is a 15.6L engine producing up to 600 hp. and 2,050 lbs.-ft. of torque. The DT12 comes standard with a 5-year/750,000-mi. warranty, with a 3-year/350,000-mi. warranty on the clutch.
