Aug. 5, 2013

Eaton Corp. announced that its line of manual transmissions is an available option on Freightliner Cascadia trucks equipped with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy-duty natural gas engine. The Eaton transmissions will debut on Cascadia day cabs with Westport engines that are scheduled to go into production in September of this year, Eaton said.

Based on the Cummins ISX12 heavy-duty diesel engine platform, the 12L ISX12 G natural gas engine operates exclusively on either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) and features ratings up to 400 hp. and 1,450 lbs.-ft. of torque. An optional engine brake is also available.

“Our manual transmissions have proven to be perfectly suited for the Westport engines and represent an ideal balance between environmentally friendly and fuel efficiency for a wide variety of trucking applications,” said Michael Holahan, sales manager for Eaton. “We very much welcome this latest certification and look forward to much success with Freightliner and Westport.”

All Eaton products are backed by the Roadranger network, which includes more than 200 drivetrain professionals throughout North America.
