Red Dot Corp. has announced that Glacier Bay Inc.’s ClimaCab all-electric climate-control system will be available to its warehouse distributor network beginning this month.

According to the company, ClimaCab is a battery-powered HVAC system featuring the savings and environmental benefits of an electric system with the cooling of a diesel auxiliary power unit. It provides 10 consecutive hours of 8,000 BTUs/hr of cab and sleeper cooling.

The system features five components--a power management module that optimizes battery charge while minimizing power drain; an evaporator that varies fan speed; a condenser; a touch-screen control, and a battery bank mounting platform for four deep-cycle AGM batteries, Red Dot said.

“ClimaCab fits right in with the HVAC systems and components that Red Dot offers,” said Robert Gardiner, Red Dot marketing manager. “Its clean installation, longer run times, minimal maintenance, and faster return on investment than fuel-fired APUs make this a great addition to our catalog of products.”
