Fleetowner 3717 Hotforda

Full-size toy

Dec. 9, 2013

Among the custom jobs shown off at the SEMA show in L.A. last month was this eye-grabbing 2014 Ford Transit Connect done up as a Hot Wheels-themed cargo van.

Michigan-based custom shop Ice 9 Group worked with designers from Ford and Mattel, the Hot Wheels toymaker, to transform the Transit Connect from the ground up into a unique “dream machine,” in the words of Keith Strong, Ice 9’s president.

This Hot Wheels is powered by a 2.5L Ti-VCT 4-cyl. engine.  The van’s been widened 4 in. in front and 6 in. at the rear.  It features functional custom exhaust ports, gullwing doors, a new front fascia and bumpers, and custom 20-in. wheels.
