Meritor Aftermarket expands brake, suspension, wheel-end product lines

Jan. 29, 2015

LAS VEGAS.  A major expansion of its air disc brake offerings, a lightweight brake drum, and a broadened all-makes product line of Euclid suspension parts were among the announcements by Meritor Inc.’s Aftermarket business at the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week.  The company also said it will create a network of approved independent service providers and added new wheel-end products, as well as announced its financial support for a program that helps wounded veterans transition into business and community leadership roles.

Over 150 part numbers have been added to Meritor’s catalog for its ADB1560, DX and EX+ air disc brake systems, including calipers, kits and other wear items.  The company has also added over 130 Meritor AllFit parts for other heavy-duty air disc systems, including brake pads, calipers, rotors and service kits.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Euclid has added 200 new branded parts to its suspension portfolio and plans to add another 300 before the end of the year. Covering all makes and models available in North America, it include equalizers, shock absorbers, bushings, hanger brackets and other related parts, all branded Euclid.

Joining forces with Temper Axle Products Corp., Meritor Aftermarket is now offering Doctor Preload Bearing Adjustment Tools and Temper-Loc spindle nuts designed to provide preload bearing adjustments on steer, drive and trailer axles.  An alternative to pre-adjusted hubs, the tool and nuts will let fleets set optimal bearing preload to the SAE J2535 standard, providing improved life for tires, bearings and wheel seals, according to Meritor.

The company said it was also in the process of creating a network of approved independent service garages under a new Meritor Service Point program. To qualify, the repair shops will have to have current tools and equipment, provide their technicians with Meritor training, and agree to buy Meritor components from its distribution partners.

“Shoes for Soldiers” is a new initiative from Meritor that will donate a percentage of its remanufactured brake shoe sales up to $50,000 to the Wyakin Warrior Foundation, a group that provides financial support, professional development services and mentoring to severely wounded, injured or ill veterans as they transition into new careers.

“The need among wounded veterans is great, and we want to express our appreciation for the sacrifices they have made for all of us by joining with Wyakin to help them prepare for a successful future,” said Tim Bauer, the newly named director of remanufacturing for Meritor.
