Fleetowner 4118 Coil Sumosprings Transit Connect

New spring option offers smoother Transit ride

May 13, 2014

SuperSprings is offering a new Coil SumoSpring that it said offers a level ride for drivers of the Ford Transit Connect.

Coil SumoSprings slide between the turns of coil springs. Since their proprietary microcellular urethane material offers a progressive spring rate, they provide extra support for the suspension only when needed, the company explained. A vehicle equipped with Coil SumoSprings will experience less side-to-side body roll, front-end dip and sagging without a compromised ride.

“Coil SumoSprings are made out of the same material as our SumoSprings ‘airless airbags’ and are designed to keep loaded vehicles level,” said Gerry Lamberti, SuperSprings International CEO. “The cylindrical Coil SumoSprings feature an ‘H’-shaped cross-section that secures them in place. The trapped air within the closed cells of the urethane provides up to 600 lbs. of support. The material is able to combine that support with a smooth engagement for maximum driver comfort.”

The Coil SumoSprings application developed for the Transit Connect’s rear suspension (P/N CCS-1145) is easy to install, providing substantial cost savings to users, SuperSprings said. Coil SumoSprings simply slide into place and can be installed in less than one hour.

“Since you can easily install Coil SumoSprings in-house, you don’t have to worry about wasting time and resources shuttling vehicles back and forth from the spring shop,” said Lamberti. “They are a fit-it-and-forget-it solution that can be left untouched for the life of the vehicle.  They will never sag due to a leak, further lowering overall total cost of ownership.”
