Customization of the TriPac hybrid auxiliary idle reduction and temperature management APU system is easier with a new controller from Thermo King.

The controller adds more programmability such as allowing the driver to select operating parameters for the TriPac system after the truck is shut off. The system can now be programmed to monitor battery and coolant temperature after the tractor on/off cycle, and it can monitor cab temperature as well.

“Thermo King continues to develop options to maximize performance and savings for TriPac users,” said Dwayne Cowan, APU product manager. “This additional feature will provide customized functionality for TriPac drivers and fleets.”

Thermo King is also offering rebates up to $1,000 for qualifying purchases of Espar heaters through Dec. 31, 2009. Orders can be for any combination of eligible heaters, the company said, with rebate amounts dependent on the quantity ordered.

The following heaters are eligible: Airtronic D4 truck kits (84-847 – 12V with thermostat; 84-846 – 12v with mini controller); Airtronic D2 truck kits (84-838 – 12v with thermostat; 84-837 – 12v with mini controller); Airtronic D2/Hydronic 5 combo truck kits (84-661 – external fuel pump, timer with bracket and mini controller; 84-668 – timer with bracket and 12v thermostat); and Hydronic D5 truck kits (80-112 – 12v with timer; 84-865 – 12v with external fuel pump).
