Norgren Global Vehicle Technologies has developed a chassis-mounted Lift Axle Control Module (LACM) that can be configured for specific system requirements and is durable enough for off-road applications. It provides a quick and reliable way to control the up and down movement of lift axles, according to the company.
The LACM reduces lift axle deployment times by using a brake-like relay valve technology that boosts airflow. Built as a single unit, the LACM contains an integrated solenoid valve and all of the ports required to control the axle, including a single main air supply port, two load air spring delivery ports, two lift air spring delivery ports and a single regulated supply port. A pressure gauge port is optional.
Norgren says the LACM has demonstrated up to a 50% reduction in the amount of time it takes the axle to lift off the ground and reach the pressure set by the regulator.
While some manufacturers will “pre-plumb” new trucks to accommodate the LACM, it is also available in the aftermarket as a retrofit.
