A new telescopic trailer will be one of the products Talbert Manufacturing will be showing at the upcoming American Towman Expo 2011, Nov. 17-20 in Baltimore, MD.

The specialty-built trailer manufacturer will also display its flexible Talbert SSTA (traveling axle) 5053 trailer.

The 55-ton hydraulic detach telescopic multi-purpose trailer extends from 30 to 50 ft. and has a 20-in. loaded deck height. The trailer has versatile spread axle capabilities that allow a 2 + 2; or a 3 + 1 configuration; and its tandem axle features connections for a third axle that can be flipped or removed, Talbert said. The unit is also equipped with connections for a future fourth axle.

A pinned and hinged gooseneck extension can be flipped, and combined with the ability to flip a third axle, the trailer can be retracted to an overall length of less than 53 ft. It comes standard with air-ride suspension, Dura-Bright aluminum outer wheels; strobe lights at the rear of each axle; and a battery back-up that powers the lighting package when the trailer is disconnected from the truck cab.

The SSTA 5053 trailer has a 50-ton capacity, a 41-ft., 6-in. lower deck, and 53-ft. overall length. There is a 6-deg. loading angle and 14-deg. dumping angle.

A 15,000-lb. planetary winch is standard with a 20,000-lb. winch optional. According to Talbert, the SSTA is comprised of a T-1 & 80K steel beam constructed framework; 4-in. I-beam cross members on 9-in. centers; and 1-1/2 inch apitong flooring for long-term and reliable performance.

Among many other standard features, the SSTA 5053 includes air-ride suspension; two-speed landing gear, hub-piloted steel disc wheels, and both side and center tie-down slots for greater loading ease and application flexibility.
