Designed for high performance and severe-duty heavy truck applications, three Abex advanced friction material brake linings have been introduced by Federal-Mogul Corp.

A new semi-metallic combination block is a high-performance lining rated up to 23,000 lb. under the FMVSS 121 brake standard. Engineered to provide superior stopping power across a wide range of temperatures, SM FF/6098 GG offers low swell and growth for improved lining life and drum compatibility in a wide range of applications, according to the manufacturer.

A severe-duty lining, the new Abex FT GG is rated to 26,000 lb. and is intended for fire trucks and other severe-duty, high-performance applications. Federal-Mogul says the flexural strength and elasticity of the new lining material helps avoid cracking in such applications.

With a rating of 20,000 lb., the Abex SM FF lining is designed for vocational applications with severe-duty cycles. The material is said to provide excellent fade resistance and recovery performance, as well as improved flexural strength in such cycles.
