Starting Sept. 28 in Toronto, the Tire Industry Assn. (TIA) will begin a 10-city tour offering seminars on handling and servicing heavy-duty truck tires. The one-day courses will meet OSHA training requirements for all employees handling truck tires and wheels. With two back-to-back classes in each city, the tour is scheduled to visit Buffalo, Boston, Hartford, CT, New York City, Philadelphia, Charlotte, NC, Birmingham AL, Houston and Phoenix, in addition to Toronto. Freightliner Trucks is now offering ConMet CastLite brake drums on all of its medium- and heavy-duty models. The OEM says they chose these brake drums because they deliver significant weight savings and improved performance with a lower cost premium than other lightweight drum designs.
