Carrier Transicold recently announced a number of improvements to its ComfortPro auxiliary power unit, including a 1,000-hr. service interval, R124a refrigerant and 60-amp alternator.

A larger oil reservoir and new filter have made it possible to double the oil-service interval for the APU, which is built on hybrid diesel-electric technology.

The switch to R124a, which is used in automotive a/c systems, should make it easier for technicians to service the ComfortPro APU.

According to Carrier, the new alternator provides 50% more power.
