International Truck and Engine Corp. is offering a new tire and battery monitoring technology that will make its debut on the OEM's 8600 model.

An on-board display includes a hi-res color screen that gives drivers information about tire temperature and pressure, as well as battery voltage and state of charge for engine cranking. According to Gaylynn Skelnik, segment marketing manager, Heavy Vehicles, “If a tire is low or a battery is about to fail, this technology warns the driver in advance.”

Optional exterior cameras can also be connected to the system - which relies on International's multiplexed electrical system and pressure sensors — sending images to the in-cab monitor that can assist drivers in backing up.
