Robert Bosch Corp. has just introduced a new alternator that offers greater electrical power and efficiency for commercial vehicles both over-the-road and at idle, according to the manufacturer. The company says the Ultra Premium Long Haul alternator operates at better than 70% efficiency compared with conventional OE replacement alternators that operate at 55% efficiency.
The AL9960LH model produces 160-amps operating output and 80 amps at idle. The higher charge rate at idle, Bosch explains, prolongs battery life by reducing deep cycling.
The new alternator is backed by Bosch's 24-mo./ 250,000-mi. warranty.
