Class 8 net truck orders surged in October, reaching their highest point since December 2011, according to FTR.
FTR reported that October order rose 39% from September to 25,960 units. That is 14% over October 2012 and annualizes out to 244,500 units this year based on the previous three months of data.
“The increase in orders is broad-based and not isolated to any one OEM,” said Don Ake, FTR vice president. “The number is at the high end of our expectations and will likely help to solidify build activity in the short term. The three-month annualized rate is right in line with our 2014 forecast.”
