Programmable sensor add-on package available for Snap-on tool

Dec. 30, 2013

Snap-on has released a programmable sensor add-on package (TPMS3PRG) for its TPMS3 tire sensor system tool. With this new capability, service technicians can program replacement or duplicate aftermarket tire pressure monitoring sensors, saving time and reducing sensor inventory, the company said.

“The Snap-on TPMS3PRG activation enhances the capabilities of our TPMS3 tool, allowing technicians the opportunity to replace a broken or nonfunctioning sensor by programming a duplicate sensor with an identical ID.  In addition to this, it can also be used to create a generic sensor ID as well,” said Mike DeKeuster, category manager for Snap-on. “With TPMS3PRG, users can program universal sensors to fit multiple vehicles, greatly reducing the variety and number of sensors that shops need to keep in inventory.”

The TPMS3PRG is an optional activation that allows users to utilize their TPMS3 tool to program aftermarket TPMS programmable sensors. The TPMS3PRG can replace a sensor with low battery life or one that is non-functioning, as well as create a duplicate set of sensors for customers that change from summer to winter sets of tires.

It works with all the major aftermarket sensors.
