Rockland Flooring announced it was granted a United States patent for the production of wood flooring with reinforced thermoplastic underlay.

The patented method produces a reinforced truck trailer or container floor using a laminated wood component with a water impermeable fiber-reinforced thermoplastic underlay adhered to the bottom surface of the wood. It is marketed under the name Defender Composite Flooring.

“Rockland Flooring continues to provide innovative solutions and this new patent shows our commitment to the transportation industry and our valuable customers,” says Chris Wolford, Rockland Flooring Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Fleets want stronger floors with higher floor ratings and increased service life. Defender is a unique product because it’s capable of delivering all of these benefits but at a fraction of the cost of traditional composite flooring. Defender has been our most successful product launch to date simply because of the value proposition.”

Rockland Flooring is a manufacturer of laminated oak flooring for dry vans, domestic containers and truck bodies. For the past twenty-four years, Rockland has supplied OEM's and fleets worldwide with new and innovative products like Grip Guard, Wax Guard, Defender, and Pound Saver composite flooring. The company also offers a variety of Apitong products such as shiplap decking, fillers, kickboards, slats and other specialty parts.
