U.S. Xpress launches risk-free lease-purchase program

Oct. 15, 2012

U.S. Xpress has launched a new lease-purchase program that includes a 90-day risk-free trial for drivers looking to start their career as an independent trucker. The program provides drivers a truck for 90 days with bumper-to-bumper coverage, no credit check or down payment.

“Every year, carriers throughout the country face challenges with recruiting enough people to meet the workforce needs of our industry,” said Eric Fuller, COO. “This new lease-purchase program is part of our ongoing commitment to support truck drivers by providing them with an easy, risk-free opportunity to start their own business as an independent truck driver.”

Following the 90-day trial period, drivers can either terminate the lease-purchase agreement without any financial liabilities or continue on with U.S. Xpress. Once enrolled, drivers can choose a 2009 International ProStar with low monthly payments and a 3-year/300,000-mi. extended warranty, the company said.

U.S. Xpress will also provide the base plates, permits and inspections, discounts on fuel and maintenance, fuel surcharge paid on all dispatched miles (loaded and empty) and access to other resources.

In order to qualify for the program, drivers must be at least 21 years old, have a Class A CDL, an acceptable safety performance history and a minimum of six months of verifiable over-the-road driving experience within the past 24 months.
