WABCO buys Laydon Composites

April 19, 2016
Purchase adds more truck and trailer aerodynamic devices to WABCO’s portfolio.

Global truck component supplier WABCO recently acquired privately-owned Laydon Composites Ltd. (LCL), a maker of aerodynamic devices for heavy-duty trucks and trailers, for an undisclosed sum – adding what WABCO describes as “a full range of aerodynamic devices for commercial vehicles” to its product portfolio.

“We are thrilled to welcome LCL to the WABCO family,” said Nick Rens, president of WABCO’s trailer, aftermarket and off-highway division, in a statement. “Together, we offer commercial vehicle fleets in international markets the most comprehensive portfolio of aerodynamic products to help them improve operating efficiency and comply with stringent environmental regulations.”

LCL generated revenues of approximately CAD$25 million in 2015 (equal to roughly US$19.6 million) and is headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

WABCO said the acquisition of LCL makes it “the only supplier that provides a full range of aerodynamic devices for commercial vehicles worldwide” and creates “attractive growth opportunities” for both companies, especially in North America.
