Delivering Resources

Feb. 8, 2016

I try not to use this space to brag about our accomplishments but I hope you will indulge me this one time because we’ve made some changes that we hope will make your decisions about technology investments a bit easier to make.

We recently launched a Resources section on www.truckingefficiency.org. It includes a section that explains our Confidence Ratings and that explains the Confidence Matrices that we deliver for all the technologies we have studied. There is also a section that shows all the Confidence Reports we have completed to date so if you are not sure if we’ve covered a technology that you are interested you can see at a glance whether there is an in-depth report available. Again as we complete reports, we will house them here in addition to their appropriate spot in our technology guide.

The next section contains our special Confidence Report on Determining Efficiencies. The goal of this report is to help fleets understand the various test methods used to determine the efficiency of technology solutions and to understand how test results may deviate from real-world performance in the hopes that they will be better able to interpret test data. I’ll talk more about this in a future blog.

The workshops section provides information on our full- or half-day workshops which we believe are a valuable resource where fleets, dealers, truck manufacturers, industry suppliers, government agencies and associations can come together in a safe environment to share best practices and learn from each other. If you’ve never been to one of our workshops, make sure to check out the video we’ve produced so you can see what you’ve been missing.  Our next workshop will be in Long Beach CA in conjunction with the 2016 ACTExpo, details here.   Use Code NACFE50 to save $50 on registration.

Finally there is the Payback Analysis area. We’ve developed payback calculators for many of the technologies we’ve studied. These tools allow fleets to input their own data in order to determine how long it will take for them to recoup the cost of the initial investment they make in a technology. Our long-term goal is to develop a more robust calculator template with help from the industry.

While we’ve probably best known for our Confidence Reports, and we have heard fleets find them valuable, we see adding this Resources section as an evolution in our mission to help you increase your freight efficiency by providing you with some practical tools. We were mindful that you don’t need more noise out in the field and we didn’t want to just duplicate something that was already available. We believe the resources we’ve added to our website are valuable because they are complete, unbiased and transparent. We aren’t selling any products, but we are “selling” increased freight efficiency.

I’d appreciate it if you’d spend a few minutes in the new addition to our website and drop me a line with your feedback ([email protected]). It’s our goal to make our website as a whole — and this resources section in particular — something that actually helps you make the hard decisions on technology investments.
