Freightliner awards Indianapolis as its first Hardest Working City winner

March 4, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS. Freightliner Trucks kicked off its Hardest Working Cities program by handing its first award to the city of Indianapolis.

“We see the economy is not only getting more jobs done, but it’s absolutely recovering,” said Richard Saward, general manager-vocational sales, in announcing the promotion.

The Hardest Working Cities program will recognize 4-6 cities each year that are finding ways to get the work done, he said.

“Freightliner Trucks Hardest Working Cities program is our way of recognizing U.S. and Canadian cities that are getting the job done,” he added. “Our goal is salute the best of the best.”

Saward told Fleet Owner that the program will include advertisements in local publications saluting the chosen cities and maybe even deliveries of donuts to select customers. There will also be other associated events, held at local dealers, when appropriate.

“What a great award,” said Brian Gildea, vice president of economic development for the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, in accepting the award. “Working in economic development, I see what logistics means to [building a great] city…I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the city of Indianapolis.”

A celebration will be held at Stoops Freightliner in Indianapolis for customers, truck equipment manufacturers and community leaders on Friday, March 6.  Coffee and doughnuts will be delivered to select local jobsites that morning.

Freightliner also announced at the show a few new options for its 122SD. They include oil pan skid plates, 12-in. frame rails, threaded front suspension spring pins and bushing, and heavy-duty bolted cross-members. Front-bumper mud flaps and fog lights with rock guards are now also available as factory-installed options.
