HELP names regional director

Oct. 20, 2014

HELP Inc. has named Terry Maple regional director for several northern and Midwestern states.

HELP is the non-profit public/private partnership that provides PrePass weigh station bypass and other truck safety and efficiency services.

Maple had a 32-year career with the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), retiring as Superintendent in January 2011. In 2007, he was appointed to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee, the select nationwide panel that makes recommendations to the FMCSA Administrator on critical highway safety issues involving commercial motor carriers. Maple served on the advisory body until retiring from KHP. He also represented Kansas as the public sector member on HELP’s Board of Directors 2003-2011.

Following retirement from KHP, Maple was appointed Acting Kansas State Fire Marshal and also served as Chief Deputy Fire Marshal. For the past two years he has served as Undersheriff of Shawnee County, based in Topeka, KS.

“Terry’s commitment to commercial vehicle safety is well-known in the highway safety community throughout the country,” said Karen Rasmussen, president and CEO of HELP Inc. “His knowledge will be a tremendous asset to HELP Inc. and its truck safety services as the number of PrePass sites and enrolled trucks continues to grow.”

HELP’s regional directors serve as the principal points of contact with state agencies responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement, infrastructure protection, and other compliance functions.
