Ryder promotes Sanchez to president, COO

Feb. 15, 2012

Robert E. Sanchez has been named president & COO of Ryder System. Sanchez, who most recently served  as president of Ryder’s Global Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) division, will  report to chairman & CEO Gregory Swienton.

“At Ryder, and in my role as the CEO, we have had a  long-standing commitment to management development at all levels of our organization,”  said Swienton. “This includes providing leadership opportunities in  positions that broaden our team’s capabilities through rotational assignments  as well as providing roles of increasing responsibility that contribute to the  long-term progress and stability of our company. This appointment is another  example of that commitment and one that has been well-earned by Mr. Sanchez. Because  of his breadth of assignments and performance over the years, Robert is ideally  suited for this position.”

Sanchez will now oversee the business operations of both FMS  and the company’s Supply Chain Solutions division.

Replacing Sanchez as president of FMS is Dennis C.  Cooke.

“Over the course of his career, Dennis has  developed and proven his ability to lead large teams to accelerate growth,  drive operational efficiencies and increase profitability,” said Sanchez. “The  experience, ideas and energy that Dennis has brought to his work at Ryder  should continue to serve him and our company very well in this expanded role. We  look forward to the benefits of his collaborative and focused leadership as our  team works to accelerate profitable growth.”
