Shooting leaves trucking company owner dead, employee critically injured

June 25, 2012

The owner of McKeesport, PA-based Meade Brothers’ Trucking was killed and an employee was wounded in a shooting Friday night, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

Two men were reportedly seen walking into, than running out of the trucking company office. A witness found then found Voltaire “Volt” Meade, 45, the trucking company owner, and an employee shot.

Meade died about a half-hour after the shooting at the hospital. The employee, whom friends identified by the nickname “Poncho,” was in critical condition at a local hospital Friday night.

The witness said he was waiting for the two victims to work on his vehicle when he heard someone say, “No, no, no” and heard two gunshots. He said he saw two figures rush out of the small business but said he did not see them well enough to be able to provide a description.

After the other two men fled, the unidentified witness walked into the trucking company office where he found Meade and the employee lying on the ground, both conscious. The witness called 911, and medics rushed the victims to a local hospital.

Lt. Andrew Schurman of the Allegheny County police homicide unit told the newspaper it was too early Friday night to say what prompted the shooting or whether there might be surveillance footage detectives could use to develop suspect descriptions.

Anyone with information about the shooting or potential suspects is asked to call the police homicide unit at 412-473-1300.
