T.J. England has been named vice president and general counsel for C.R. England. He succeeds Nelson Hayes, who has served in the role since 1993, Dean England, co-chairman, announced. Hayes will remain with the company and retain his title of senior vice president and litigation counsel until his retirement in late 2015.
“T.J. now assumes the role for which he has prepared for many years,” said Dean England. “He has worked very hard and shown his abilities and legal expertise since rejoining the company two years ago. We appreciate his efforts to be ready for this new responsibility of leading our legal department. T.J., Nelson, and the legal team will work together closely to ensure a seamless transition.”
T.J. England has been the deputy general counsel and director of corporate compliance since April 2013. He joined the company in January 2012 as associate general counsel. Prior to joining C.R. England, England was an attorney with the Salt Lake City law firm of Ray Quinney & Nebeker and worked in the American Trucking Assns. Litigation Center in Arlington, VA.
“Nelson Hayes will continue to provide his legal guidance to the organization,” Dean England said. “Nelson has had a long and significant role during his time with C.R. England. He has made great contributions to the success of the company. There is never a good time for someone of Nelson's stature to depart. However, these changes give us the best opportunity to navigate his departure with the least amount of disruption.”
