Jake Jacoby has been named president and CEO of the Truck Renting and Leasing Assn. (TRALA).
TRALA is the national trade association representing every major truck renting and leasing company and truck leasing system operating in North America.
Jacoby had served as TRALA’s acting president and CEO following the sudden death of Tom James in December 2014. Before that, Jacoby worked as TRALA’s top lobbyist for the past four and a half years in the role of vice president of government relations on a number of issues both before Congress and in the states. Jacoby also established TRALA’s first political action committee, TRALAPAC. Prior to joining TRALA, he operated his own consulting company which specialized in trucking and transportation matters. Jacoby has been a federal lobbyist for more than 15 years.
“With a number of challenges our industry is facing that include federal tax reform, court decisions potentially impacting the Graves Amendment and critical legislative issues in various states ongoing, Jake is uniquely suited to address these matters without any learning curve needed to best represent TRALA and all of its members,” said Dan Murphy, TRALA chairman.
“It is an honor to be selected as the next president and chief executive officer of TRALA” Jacoby said. “I plan to continue TRALA’s strong legacy of advocacy for all its members both before Congress and in all 50 states that Tom James had made such a central point during his tenure at TRALA. I look forward to working with our board of directors and every TRALA member to achieve great things in the coming years ahead.”
