Growing congestion, increased drayage costs, and a desire by beneficial cargo owners in Southern California’s Inland Empire to avoid sending their truckers to the harbor are the driving factors behind the concept. JOC has more.3. A federal drug ring case involving meth has been linked to a March murder at a Flying J truck stop in Grand Forks, the Grand Forks Herald reports. According to the report, since last week, eight people have been indicted with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of a controlled substance. The Herald states that the defendants are accused of conspiring to distribute more than 500 grams of meth in Minnesota and North Dakota, as well as Grand Forks, using violence of threats of violence. The National Safety Council reports that the numbers of unintentional deaths and injuries in the workplace have reached their highest level since 2008, according to The Trucker.com. According to the report, certain industries experienced sharper rises in unintentional injuries than others, including agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, and manufacturing. 5. According to a Post & Parcel report, Deutsche Post DHL Group, Cranfield University, and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation have developed a new logistics model for the circular economy. According to the report, the circular economy concept aims to reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy and to promote sustainability through the circular flow of goods.
