While trucking teems with innovation, FLEET OWNER has created the Fleet of the Year Awards to honor the very best of the industry's innovative business practices and to bring them to wider public recognition.

There are no entry forms or nominations for these awards. Instead, FLEET OWNER's editors compiled a list of candidates over the past year as they researched stories, traveled to industry events and talked to readers from fleets of all sizes and types. The editors then met to choose the very best among those candidates in three separate categories that recognize the widely different operating challenges faced by private, vocational and for-hire fleets.

By singling out the following three fleets, we first honor them for demonstrating true excellence in management. But perhaps more importantly, we believe the winners of the 2003 Fleet of the Year Awards will also offer all of FLEET OWNER's readers new insights into the value of innovation in fleet management.
