Fuel bills hit the roof for transport operators 02 April 2012
Blackpool-based haulier and Palletforce member E Vallance Transport Services, which has retrofitted one of his high roof curtainsiders with a sloping front end, says the combination is now turning in a fuel consumption improvement close to 11%.
The conversion was carried out at Montracon's repair and refurbishment centre at Wilberfoss, which has seen a leap in enquiries from operators urgently looking to streamline both their trailers and their fuel bills in the face of escalating prices at the pump.
E Vallance Transport Services managing director Steve Vallance says he'd love the saving to be a little higher, but is already saving some £4,500 a year from the vehicle's fuel bill, based at today's bunkered prices.
