Average diesel prices fell four cents to $4.72 per gallon for the week of July 21, according to information from the Energy Information Administration (EIA)

Average diesel prices fell four cents to $4.72 per gallon for the week of July 21, according to information from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Extreme volatility in crude oil prices hasn’t corresponded to a high drop in fuel prices as of yet, with crude oil dropping from $147 to $131 over the course of the week, according to the Associated Press.

The most expensive areas in the country continue to be the New England and Central Atlantic regions, where diesel fuel averages $4.87 per gallon. The least expensive region is the Midwest, where the average price is $4.65 per gallon.
