Snap-on has introduced a Hybrid MultiMeter, the EEDM604C Auto Ranging DMM, for use on hybrid vehicles equipped with battery packs.

“At Snap-on, we have a ‘Next Generation Vehicle Team’ that does field research to evaluate vehicles, shops and technicians,” said David Brekke, category manager. “We learn right alongside the key players about the latest developments. Based on their input, we have been developing productivity-enhancing tools for hybrid vehicles. Our new Hybrid MultiMeter is a prime example of a tool that will enable work on these new hi-tech vehicles safely. Partnering with the leading green garages, technicians and OEMs to understand and embrace hybrid innovation has been encouraging.”

With the tool, technicians can confirm power down before servicing; diagnose electrical and powertrain systems; safely tap into electrical impulses necessary for diagnosing hybrid vehicle electrical circuits or components as well as any other electrical operations; and measure capacitors in the inverter.

In addition, the tool features a large 50,000-count LCD display with 51 segment bar graph; flexible optional manual range selection which changes from auto ranging to manual ranging per users needs; REC (Record) feature to allow storage of readings to provide faster comparative measurements; ADP (adapter setting); OHM/Conductance/Continuity Buzzer (one dial setting with pushbutton selection feature); and AC and DV voltage tests for checking proper voltage level in a circuit.
