LAS VEGAS. Terra Environmental Technologies, Inc. (TET) made several announcements here this week during the Truckload Carriers Association annual convention, including the availability of new “Quick Flow” dispensing bottles with built-in fill nozzles for their TerraCair Ultrapure DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) and the addition of several truck stop groups as distributors. The company also noted that they are now the DEF supplier of choice for numerous truck makers, including Volvo, Mack, Daimler Trucks, N.A., Ford, General Motors and Chrysler.
“We stand behind our product from the factory to the tank on the vehicle,” said John Lounsbury, director of marketing for TET. The new dispensing bottles are critical to maintaining the purity of the product from production to distribution and dispensing, he noted because “it is very easy to contaminate the product” and contaminated DEF has the potential to disrupt vehicle operation.
The new 2.5-gal bottles are part of a quality control chain that Lounsbury described as a “closed system,” which also includes working with approved equipment vendors and using dedicated equipment as much as possible to transfer DEF, to minimize the chance of any other materials being incorporated into the fluid. The bottles feature a single-use, easy-reach, flexible dispensing nozzle and an integrated air-flow valve to enable dispensing of the 2.5- gal of DEF in less than 30 seconds. Since a 2.5-gal bottle of DEF weighs 25lbs, the quick dispensing is really essential, according to Lounsbury, who noted that it can be awkward to hold a heavy container up for much longer than a few seconds.
Lounsbury also announced the addition of three new TerraCair distributors: Sapp Brothers Travel Centers, which is headquartered in Omaha, NB and operates 16 travel centers in eight states; DAS, Inc. which provides goods and services to travel centers and truck stops; and Barjan, LLC, which will distribute TerraCair throughout its U.S. and Canadian network.
Three of the country’s largest independent truckstop networks now endorse TerraCair, according to Lounsbury: The North American Truck Stop Network (NATSN), America’s Best Truck Stops (AmBest) and Professional Transportation Partners, LLC .
