Chep has announced a new website showcasing the impact shipping platform choices have on the environment and supply chain, allowing companies to calculate the environmental impact of Chep’s pallet pool compared to other shipping platforms, the company said.

According to Chep, the site calculates the solid waste eliminated as well as the amount of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption lowered. The calculations are based on a report on the environmental impact of the equipment released by Franklin Associates last fall, the company said.

The Chep pallet pool program saved 2.5 billion lbs. of solid waste and 8 trillion BTUs of energy in 2007, removing 1.4 billion lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere, Chep said.
