Discrete Wireless, Inc. and Link It Software have announced a strategic partnership to develop web-based software geared towards reducing fuel consumption, the companies said.

According to the two companies, Discrete Wireless’s GPS vehicle tracking application, Marcus, and Link It’s EZ Maintenance Web (EZM), have been combined for a web-based software offering that provides vehicle mileage data, hours of use, automatic maintenance schedule updates, and real-time maintenance alert generation.

“Study after study has shown that timely vehicle maintenance reduces fuel use by at least 4% to 5%,” said Link It CEO Wayne McFarland. “Furthermore, EZM Web users can enter expected miles per gallon for each vehicle. If the miles per gallon fall below this setting, EZM Web immediately flags the user to check the vehicle.

This is critical, as a problem as simple as a clogged air filter can reduce mileage by up to 40%.”<

“In addition, customers who use the combination of EZM Web and Discrete Wireless GPS services know instantly when maintenance is due or if any of their vehicles need to be looked at because the mileage of the vehicle is far past the recommended maintenance period,” McFarland continued. “This translates into ongoing reduction of fuel consumption, increased operating efficiencies and longevity of vehicle life.”
