NEW ORLEANS. Paper forms can be scanned and delivered wirelessly from a truck’s cab to a fleet’s automated document management system within minutes with a new system introduced by McLeod Software and DriverTech at the American Trucking Assns. annual conference here.

Promising shortened billing cycles and reduced paperwork costs, the new system integrates Driver Tech’s on-board computer with McLeod’s DocumentPower forms recognition and workflow management software.

The “scan to bill” process starts when the driver feeds proof-of-delivery and other settlement documents into a portable scanner attached to the Windows XP-based DT4000 TruckPC. The images are transmitted wirelessly either in batches via WiFi or in real-time over the unit’s cellular modem.

McLeod’s Forms Recognition system then captures, validates and classifies the documents automatically, routing them to its document workflow management system for fast processing.
