A new iPhone app from the American Assn. of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is designed to offer drivers real-time traffic conditions as well as news and video content. The AASHTOMobile app, is available now in the Apple iTunes App Store at http://itunes.apple.com/app/aashto-mobile/id419618952?mt=8.

“Americans are on the move, now more than ever, and we believe this is one way to meet their demand for greater access to information while on the go,” said John Horsley, AASHTO executive director.

Traffic data is provided by Inrix, a nationwide provider of information and driving services. The data covers more than one- million miles of highways, interstates, arterials and city streets, nationwide.

Developed by iEngineering of Chantilly, VA, the app also features the latest in AASHTO news and offers direct links to more than 100 AASHTO videos, including a weekly newscast.

An Android version of the app is planned for release later this year.
