Customs slates ACE meeting

Sept. 27, 2006
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will hold its second conference on the Automated Commercial Environment

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will hold its second conference on the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) at the Westin La Paloma hotel in Tucson Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. The event is part of a series of educational forums for the trade community about the benefits of ACE, which collects electronic truck manifests, and its impact on business operations.

ACE is currently operating at all southern land border ports, as well as along much of the northern border. Eventually, the program will cover all land border ports.

CBP will make filing e-manifests mandatory on a port-by-port basis beginning in 2007. Notices announcing mandatory e-manifest dates for individual ports will be published in the Federal Register at least 90 days in advance.

Registration information is available at www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/about/modernization/ace_ex_conf/
