NavPlus, the in-dash technology platform available on all Kenworth Class 5-8 trucks, is being enhanced with mobile connectivity from Sprint. Sprint will integrate its network into the NavPlus system.
The solution provides diagnostics/logistics, back-office, GPS/location-based services and other functionality to truck operators. Kenworth said this functionality will allow truck fleets to achieve enhanced communications with dispatchers, logistics providers and shippers, while improving driver productivity and comfort on the road.
“Sprint is a technology leader and we look forward to offering its outstanding mobile connectivity service as a benefit to customers in Kenworth trucks factory-equipped with Kenworth NavPlus,” said Bill Kozek, Kenworth gm & Paccar vp.
NavPlus uses a high-resolution, 7-in. color screen and has 8 gigabytes of memory. The optional Sprint integration will allow drivers to access the Internet, send and receive e-mails, and perform more functions when the truck is not in motion.
Paccar’s proprietary NavPlus includes hands-free phoning with Bluetooth, back-up camera options, vehicle data, and audio controls, including satellite radio, AM/FM, CD, MP3 and USB.
