Data collected by Wabco’s SmartTrac and OnGuard active safety systems will now be available on Iteris’ SafetyDirect driver performance reporting software, the companies have announced.

Meritor Wabco fleet customers can now use SafetyDirect as a single point of access to monitor and synchronize driver performance data on braking, stability control, following distances and lane-departure warnings for individual drivers or entire fleets.

“I am delighted to partner with an industry leader such as Meritor Wabco, said Abbas Mohaddes, president & CEO of Iteris. “This alliance is a testament to the industry’s validation of our SafetyDirect driver performance reporting system. Iteris plans to expand market share through not only product development, but also through strategic alliances. With increased political and industry focus on improving driver safety, I believe this partnership will greatly expand our safety offering to a broader segment of the commercial truck market.”

SafetyDirect uses information transmitted from the vehicle by the fleet’s onboard mobile communications system to provide fleet operators with a comprehensive view of the entire fleet, as well as the ability to drill down to detailed information on individual drivers and events. With SafetyDirect, fleet managers can identify risky driver behavior and provide drivers with the training that the fleet managers deem appropriate to reinforce safe driving practices.
