Bulk carrier Groendyke Transport Inc. will install untethered tracking units from SkyBitz on 500 of its chemical, petroleum and bulk trailers. The tracking system will be installed by the fleet's management software provider, TMW Systems, which will also handle integration. The fleet is installing trailer tracking to both bolster security for its hazardous materials fleet and improve asset utilization, according to Carl Recher, VP of chemical operations.

Agreeing to continue use of the Terion FleetView 3 untethered trailer tracking system, J.B. Hunt Transport Services will install the company's Tractor ID option in all of its units. Tractor ID uses power line communications technology to identify any tractor hooked to a FleetView-equipped trailer, reporting its ID and fleet code over the system's wireless data network.

J.P. Donmoyer Inc., a regional dry bulk and truckload carrier based in Ono, PA, is equipping its entire 110-tractor fleet with the PeopleNet mobile communications system. In addition to messaging and vehicle tracking, the fleet says it will use the system's PerformX vehicle monitoring option to track fuel economy, idling and PTO hours.

WorkTrack Timesheet from Aligo Inc. is a field supervisor application for the construction industry that runs on BlackBerry handheld units. The new module automates time and job data collection by foremen and supervisors, feeding hours, job numbers, cost codes, work orders and other data directly into payroll and other back-office applications. www.aligo.com
