Greg Holcomb has been named manager of consulting for Karmak, a developer of business management systems for the heavy-duty truck industry. He will be responsible for overseeing the company's consulting teams as well as researching customer and industry technological needs. A new position, it expands consulting services and options in areas such as inventory control, service department management, and truck sales.

Specializing in expedited retail deliveries, Craig Transportation has moved its fleet to MobileMax Multi-Mode wireless communications from GeoLogic Solutions. The system, which combines satellite and land-based wireless networks, is well suited to the fleet's operations, providing faster messaging times at lower costs in the many metropolitan areas served by Craig, according to president Lance Craig.

Roadwork construction alerts for Rand McNally's IntelliRoute system are now updated twice a month to help fleets avoid unnecessary delays. The no-cost updates are available online on the 5th and 20th of each month. The system also provides fastest and lowest-cost route options for construction areas.

With more than 1,000 trucks in automotive, flatbed and general commodities truckload operations, Falcon Transportation Co. is replacing a fleet management system developed in house with TMWSuite from TMW Systems. The fleet will integrate the new software with its wireless communications and back-office operations, as well as implement the system's real-time performance monitoring capabilities.

Verst Group Logistics has chosen the PeopleNet onboard computing and mobile communications system for its three company owned fleets. It is also implementing the PACOS automated messaging and alert system, integrating it with their current dispatch software.

TMW Systems' director of client services Matt Ruth has been promoted to vp of professional services for the software developer. The company has also named Keith Mader vp of development services, and Shelli Weisz vp of business development-Europe.
