Originally designed for light-duty vehicles with OBD II data busses, the remote diagnostics and location system Networkfleet is now available for both medium- and heavy-duty trucks, according to developer Networkcar. The company has also announced a new marketing agreement that will make the system available through Johnson Industries, a major wholesale distributor of automotive parts.

Networkfleet captures operating and diagnostic data from engine and component controllers as well as position information from a GPS receiver, which it sends to a data hub over a wireless communications network. Fleets can access the data with a Web-based management application or receive it via email alerts and printed summary reports.

The reseller agreement with Johnson Industries will make the fleet management system available to the distributor's fleet, dealership and rental customers, according to Networkcar. Headquartered in Altanta, Johnson has 12 distribution centers in the U.S. and is said to be the world's largest AC Delco distributor.
