Cities and municipalities with public WiFi networks can use Release 3.0 of the fleet management system FleetPulse to automatically capture vehicle operating and diagnostic information as fleet vehicles drive through those WiFi enabled sites.

The new release features VIUPoint Access Service (VAS), which allows a fleet using FleetPulse to centrally manage multiple WiFi access points as a hosted service, according to developer Netistix Technologies.

Other features for the new release include a fleet manager dashboard option for quick access to key operational data including safety, diagnostics and fuel consumption information, and an “Off Usage” monitor that tracks fleet vehicles operating outside normal business hours.
