ExxonMobil has reformulated its Exxon XD-3 EXTRA heavy-duty engine oil to meet API's CI-4 standards, which go into effect this fall. The oil has been enhanced to handle the tougher operating environment anticipated with the introduction of exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) engines designed to comply with EPA's stricter October 2002 emissions rules.
