Combining GPS tracking, routing, dispatch and online freight payment, Modus is a management software suite developed for fleets with five to 500 vehicles, according to Catch4 Technologies Inc.
The tracking portion of the system uses the analog cellular telephone network to relay vehicle position to Catch4's network. Fleets access the information presented on electronic maps over a proprietary, secured web site.
The Modus logistics module can be used to optimize freight lanes and routes for an entire fleet, as well as develop map-based directions for drivers and follow vehicle movements. Combined with the suite's dispatch function, the logistics module provides information to help fleets assign routes, drivers and vehicles for maximum productivity, according to Catch4.
The online freight payment tool can be used to automatically bill shippers and receive payments. Offered in conjunction with a major bank, it carries a 1.5% transaction fee, but eliminates higher factoring fees, Catch4 says.
