Designed to handle increasingly popular high-horsepower engines, a new 13-speed Eaton Fuller transmission has a torque rating of 2,050 lb.-ft. and a new 18-speed is rated for peak torques of up to 2,250 lb.-ft. The 13-speed RTLO-20913A is already in production, and the 18-speed RTLO-22918B will be available in January, according to the Truck Components Group of Eaton Corp.

New features for the high-torque boxes include higher capacity output shafts, new internal output shaft seals, a spool-type air splitter valve system, and a standard oil-to-water heat exchanger.

The 13-speed has an overall reduction of 16.9 to 1, and the 18-speed has a 19.7 to 1 overall reduction. Both are available with overdrive ratios of 0.73 and 0.86.

A low-profile, lightweight engine brake for Caterpillar's new C15/C16 (3406E) engine has been introduced by Pacbrake. The P-39A weighs less than the P-39, without sacrificing strength or stability. The unit, which offers up to 460 retarding horsepower, has a 5-yr./500,000-mi. casting warranty and a 4-yr./400,000-mi. warranty for components.
