Designed to provide enterprise-wide control of asset maintenance, the next version of Maximo from MRO Software has been completely redesigned with a distributed component architecture.

By using Internet-based components and Java technology, the new Maximo 5.0 can be easily and quickly deployed across multiple sites, networks and even stand-alone systems, according to the developer. Any device with a web browser, including wireless devices, can access the new system. Other benefits of the redesign include scalability, easier maintenance and faster integration with e-commerce partners, according to MRO.

Maximo's current fleet application will move to the new architecture within the year, the company says. It will contain all current functions, including support for XML and other standards.
